The Lynchburg Fire Department, established in April of 1883, provides fire suppression and prevention services, emergency medical services, hazardous materials, and confined space emergencies for approximately 66,000 Lynchburg residents, as well as the thousands who enter the area daily to work and shop. The department is staffed with 194 personnel, including civilians, firefighters and emergency medical personnel operating with eight stations, administrative office, specialized repair shop, and Fire Training Facility.
